In 2020, 1X partnered with Everon by ADT Commercial, a commercial security solutions company, to deploy 150-250 humanoid robots in various buildings across the US for night guarding. This is a unique use-case for humanoids because other companies such as Figure and Tesla have been focusing on warehouse and factory applications.
In March 2023, the company closed a funding round of $23.5 million, led by the OpenAI Startup Fund, along with other investors including Tiger Global, Sandwater, Alliance Ventures, and Skagerak Capital.<ref>https://robotsguide.com/robots/eve</ref> The partnership with OpenAI has helped significantly for developing the AI system used in their humanoids.
